Brian Cucu

Brian is the founder and Editor of Basketball256.com, an independent online publication dedicated to telling the stories that shape Ugandan basketball. Over the years, he has written hundreds of articles covering the game—from the National Basketball League and the national teams to grassroots basketball, athlete journeys, and the culture that binds them all together. Away from the keyboard, Brian is a basketball coach who believes the game's greatest lessons are learned long before the final buzzer. He works with Rockwell Basketball Academy, coaches youth teams at Heritage International School, and is part of the coaching staff within the Victoria University basketball programme, helping to develop the next generation of players. His coaching philosophy blends evidence with experience. Brian has studied *The Science of Training Young Athletes* through the University of Florida, pursued Computer Science at Makerere University, and continually explores disciplines ranging from leadership and education to psychology and performance science—believing that the best coaches and storytellers are lifelong students. For Brian, basketball is more than scores, statistics, and championships. It is a language of communities, a record of history, and a vehicle for character. Through Basketball256, he seeks to document the people, moments, and ideas that define the sport in Uganda while challenging readers to see the game not just as entertainment, but as a reflection of society itself. Whether on the sidelines, with a whistle or behind a keyboard with a notebook, Brian remains committed to one mission: growing the game by telling its stories with honesty, curiosity, and purpose.
