Afrobasket Qualifiers: Uganda Silverbacks vs Morocco

The Silverbacks quest for AfroBasket 2021 will be back on track on Thursday 8th July, 2021 when they face off with Morocco in the final qualification round that was postponed in March in application of COVID-19 FIBA protocols. A few players on the Silverbacks had tested positive with the Corona Virus forcing FIBA to issue this statement;

Following the postponement of Uganda’s games in application of the COVID-19 Protocol for FIBA Official National Team and Club Competitions and the advice of its Medical Commission, the pending Group E Uganda games, Uganda – Egypt, Morocco – Uganda and Cape Verde – Uganda, will be played between June 15 and July 15, 2021 at a venue to be decided. – FIBA STATEMENT IN MARCH 2021

Uganda last played Morocco in November last year at the same event in Egypt where the Silverbacks came out victors with a close 94-90 scoreboard. Robinson Opong was nightly notable with the game high 29 points.

 For the silverbacks, Keiran Zziwa, Arthur Kaluma and Ghedi Mohamed will be making their maiden appearances.

Roaster: Jimmy Enabu, James Okello, Tonny Drileba, Ben Komakech, Titus Odeke Lual, Robinson Opong, John Deng Geu, Ishmail Wainwright, Eric Rwahire, Arthur Kaluma, Mohamed Ghedi Abdihakim & Keiran Zziwa.

Head Coach George Galanopoulos is confident that the new guys will fit in perfectly with the rest of the squad.
