Both Morocco and Uganda Silverbacks have looked to strengthen their squads in preparation for Thursday 8th July, 2021 all important game at the Salle El Bouazzaoui in Sale Morocco. Morocco have called some of their best players in a bid to avoid suffering defeat on their home turf. Defeat for Morocco will mean elimination from AfroBasket 2021, an event they’ve not missed for ten years straight since 1999.

For Uganda, winning in Sale means qualification for the third straight time to the AfroBasket competition. Even with a loss tonight, Uganda still stands a chance to qualify to AfroBasket with a victory in Praia, Cape Verde, on July 15.
After registering a 2-1 mark in the first round of Group E (thanks to wins over Morocco and Cape Verde), the Ugandans’ second round games in February were postponed due to health concerns. “The decision was taken after five members of the Uganda delegation tested positive to COVID-19 after arriving to Monastir, despite delegation members having provided earlier negative tests,” a FIBA statement noted.
Egypt won Group E with a 5-0 record.
